Prerequisites for the Anelles canyon
The canyoning outings organized at the Anelles canyon are suitable for sporty people looking for thrills.
To participate, you must be at least 12 years old (between June and September), and 14 years old (in April, May and October).
You must also be at least 145 cm tall and weigh at least 40 kg, while not exceeding a maximum weight of 110 kg.
Participants must be able to swim a distance of 25 meters and submerge themselves, be in good physical condition and have no medical contraindication to the practice of canyoning.
Finally, it is important not to be afraid of heights.
Where is this Anelles canyoning course located?
Located near the Mediterranean beaches and the Canigou massif, the Canyon des Anelles is a popular destination for nature and outdoor sports enthusiasts.
The region is known for its mountainous landscapes, holm oak forests, rivers and picturesque villages, offering a preserved and magnificent natural setting.
The Gourg des Anelles canyon is located south of Perpignan, in the Pyrénées-Orientales, in the Occitanie Pyrénées Méditerranée region (Languedoc Roussillon) in France, in the commune of Céret in the Albères sector.
The canyon can be reached by car in around 30 minutes from Perpignan, Argelès-sur-Mer, Collioure, Banyuls-sur-Mer and the Spanish border, as well as from the towns of Canet-en-Roussillon, Saint Cyprien and Sainte Marie la Sea, located less than 45 minutes away. On the other hand, you need to plan around 1h30 of transport from Montpellier and 2h00 from Toulouse.
Furthermore, the canyon is in the immediate vicinity of the beaches of Catalonia and Spain.

This canyon offers a multitude of possibilities, such as jumps into pools up to 8 meters high (not obligatory), descents on natural slides, abseiling along waterfalls, as well as river progression. The route includes around ten waterfalls, four of which will be abseiled down, including a magnificent 30 meter waterfall, as well as 12 and 3 meter waterfalls. Finally, atypical passages in the river bed will complete this unique experience.
The Anelles canyon located in Vallespir, near Céret in the Pyrénées-Orientales, is also renowned for its spectacular geological formations, including waterfalls, natural slides and crystal clear natural pools.
Description of the session:
The canyoning session at Les Anelles lasts between 3.5 and 4 hours in total. It begins with a welcome directly to the practice site and the equipment, which takes around 20 minutes. Then, a 15-minute approach walk is necessary to reach the start of the descent of the canyon, which lasts between 2 and 2.5 hours. After the descent, a 30-minute return walk is planned before disequipping and closing of the session, which will take approximately 30 additional minutes. The different stages are carefully organized to offer a pleasant and unforgettable experience to the participants.
